Day 1

You are greeted outside of the San Jose airport and helped with your bags for the comfortable and short drive to your hotel in the area of San Jose, where you are welcome to unpack, unwind and settle in for your first night in our tropical paradise.

The Sleep Inn San Jose Downtown is conveniently located in the heart of the City, only 15 km. from Juan Santamaria International Airport. It is a short distance away from tourist attractions, Casinos, Night Clubs, Bars, and Restaurants, The National Theatre, Museum de Jade, Museum de Oro and parks that are part of the national heritage, among many others.

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast you will meet your Specialist Birding Guide and drive thru the Central Volcanic Mountain range on your way east to reach the Rain Forest Aerial Tram. There you will enjoy the most complete rainforest experience possible, as you will literally fly through the forest, viewing the sub canopy (middle part of the forest), the upper canopy and its hanging gardens. You will discover plants and life forms that are usually hidden from the human eye in the forest treetops, opening up a little-seen world of intense beauty and an extraordinary biological diversity. Complimenting the gondola experience, you will be taken on a nature walk and enjoy an informational video, all while accompanied by a bilingual, expert naturalist guide. After that we will continue to our destination the Selva Verde Lodge, where you will experience the feeling of sleeping in the middle of the Rain Forest

Located near the Sarapiquí River, the charming River Lodge rooms rise above the rainforest floor on elevated platforms affording you a unique view of the surrounding flora and fauna. Day 3

Our day will start with a very early morning walk around the lodge, where you will experience the wake up calls in the Rain Forest. You will be amazed at the amount of birds you will be able to spot. After this experience, we will head back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast and will focus on bird watching around the Sarapiquí River area. Then we will continue into the Arenal Volcano area, where we will check into our hotel.

Hotel Arenal Manoa is your place for rest and relaxation at the Arenal Volcano. They offer you an impressive view of the Arenal Volcano from your own room and the highest quality of service. Hotel Manoa has the privilege of being close to the volcano, seven kilometers west of La Fortuna and 800 meters from the main road. Hotel Arenal Manoa is a brand new small hotel with 26 rooms that have been designed so that each has a complete panoramic view of the volcano so you won’t miss any details of the view! Visitors can take advantage of spacious gardens, walking trails as well as the opportunity to experience the daily operations of a typical Costa Rican dairy farm, Finca Manoa. They feel it is important that guests at Hotel Arenal Manoa experience something different yet also enjoy the customary beauty that nature gives us and that surrounds our hotel.

Arenal Volcano is by far the most active volcano in Costa Rica and as well one of the most active in the world with daily eruptions. This makes the area of Arenal and La Fortuna a fascinating tourist destination that attracts foreigners as well as the residents of Costa Rica.

Day 4

Again, very early in the morning (approximate time 5:30 am) we will go to the areas around the Arenal Volcano which are fantastic for serious bird watchers. Your expert bilingual naturalist guides will find a wide variety of species for early morning birders. You will likely see toucans, parrots, oropendolas, colorful tanagers and parakeets. For the more experienced birdwatcher, you can focus on seeing royal flycatchers, white-fronted nunbirds, cinnamon woodpeckers and other less commonly seen species. Then we will head back to the hotel for breakfast. After lunch you will be picked up to enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a gentle Hike along the base of this marvelous “Mountain of Fire”. The Hike begins on the active side of the volcano, and takes you through the forest over recent lava flows and to the destroyed area now in the process of regeneration. This is a 1½ hour trail and gets as close as five hundred meters from the lava flow.

After this tour you will go to Tabacon Resort and Hot Springs where you will experience one of the world's most amazing offerings. Here you will relax in Mother Nature's enormous hot tub. The hot springs are fed by an underground river heated naturally by the Arenal Volcano to the perfect temperature of 101 degrees. Our previous guests refer to this as their personal visit to the "Fountain of Youth." After a great buffet dinner, you will be driven back to your hotel for your wonderful night of rest.

Near the base of the active Arenal Volcano on the north side of Costa Rica, world renowned Tabacon Resort provides you a relaxing and unparalleled experience with its natural hot springs and thermo mineral water pools, its tropical and exuberant surroundings and its famous Iskandria Spa. Day 5

Early morning, we will go for another walk and then return to our hotel for breakfast and free time for exploration and observation around the hotel property. Around noon we will start the drive back to San Jose, stopping at Sarchi town to admire the souvenirs and art crafts made by local artisans.

The Sleep Inn San Jose Downtown, which is the same hotel you stayed at the first and night, features 86 rooms, all of which are decorated in an elegant, comfortable and contemporary style.

Day 6

You will be driven back to the airport at the appropriate time to catch your flight back home (approximate pickup time 3 hours prior to your flight). It’s time to say goodbye to the new friends you have made in Costa Rica.
