Before traveling to Costa Rica….

November 20, 2008 – 8:30 am

It is good to be prepared when traveling anywhere. When traveling to Costa Rica you must bring your Passport (It must be valid for 6 months from your travel date). Costa Rica is located only ten degrees north of the equator and is a humid country in general. Things to bring may depend on the activities you will be doing but in general you will need sunscreen, hat, backpack/fanny pack, bug spray, rain poncho/light jacket/windbreaker, camera/batteries/film, hiking boots/tennis shoes, flashlight. Don’t forget your bathing suit, sandals or flip-flops for the beach. The dress in Costa Rica is very informal: khakis, jeans, shorts, short sleeve shirts, etc. You may need something casual in case you want to go out for dinner.
Be sure to try Costa Rican coffee, pineapple and other exotic fruits as well as plantains, beans and rice (which are served as traditional breakfast food).
There is a $26 airport tax per person when leaving the country. Be sure to have cash on hand (colones or dollars). In general American dollar will be taken in most of the places.
Enjoy your trip to Costa Rica. Receive a warm Welcome in advance.
