Costa Rica has 51% of its land with Forest Coverage, that basically allow you to make a hike, ideally, with a Naturalist Experience guide, basically anywhere. The forest interpretation as it is call by expert guides, is particularly good in some specific places, to mention, Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve, the Manuel Antonio National Park, the Corcovado National Park, for those even more adventures, the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Tapanti National Park in Cartago, Carara National Park in the Central Pacific Coast and so many other that are pretty hard to describe on this note. When hiking in Costa Rica Forest, be sure to have water, a good pair of hiking shoes/boots, comfortable clothing and rain gear, besides binoculars and the most important should be to open your EYES, so that you will be able to see the greatest of the Tropical Forest. As general advice I should say do not touch any plants, because they may cause allergic reaction, specially if you sufer of common allergies, NEVER feed wild life, always take with you any trash that you can generated along your way and bring only memories, rocks, pieces of wood, flours, etc are not souvenirs, let them there for the enjoyment of the future visitors.

What to expect??

Costa Rica holds almost 6% of World Biodiversity, with over 200 different species of mammals, 840 species of birds, reptiles, amphibians http://images.google.co.cr/images?sourceid=navclient&hl=es&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4SKPB_esCR297CR297&q=Animales+de+Costa+Rica&um=1&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title . So the possibilities of you encountering one or two animals, or some insects, just keep clear in your mind that your are not going to a zoo, so sometimes the animals are there sometimes no; your chances are pretty good, just you have to be here to try.
