- Day 1 Arrival – San Jose – Turrialba Valley: you will be greeted outside of the San Jose airport by our bilingual representative. You will be transferred to the South to your hotel site in the Turrialba Valley. There we will give you all the necessary documents for your trip. Then you have a chance to unpack, unwind and settle in for your first night in our tropical paradise. Meals are on your own.
Overnight at Turrialba: Casa Turire recalls the gracious charm of a colonial plantation home. In the heart of the verdant Turrialba agricultural region, the wild Reventazón River enfolds the beautiful estate with the imposing presence of the Turrialba Mountains forming a dramatic backdrop. Guests are drawn into an ambience of ultimate hospitality as they arrive, the relaxed refinement of a Caribbean Hacienda. Casa Turire’s landscaped gardens abound with tropical plants; flowers and trees create an Edenesque setting. You’ll fall asleep to nature’s lullaby in your elegant room and awaken to the song of exotic birds in the pure breath of morning. - Day 2 Pacuare River White Water Rafting: after breakfast, you will be picked up to start the adventure of the day where you will white water raft at Pacuare River. This is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This quintessential tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids. You will raft 16 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids in one of Costa Rica’s most impressive primary rainforest. After an adrenaline-packed day running rapids, you will go for a hearty and delicious lunch. There will be showers, optional drinks and a souvenir store available. Then back to your hotel to relax and explore.
- Day 3 Turrialba Valley –Puerto Viejo-Limon (Caribbean): after breakfast, a shuttle service will pick you up to start a wonderful trip through the countryside to the Caribbean Coast to reach Limon City and continue south to your hotel in Puerto Viejo. After passing by colorful towns you will reach Le Caméléon Boutique Resort.
Le Caméléon Boutique Resort is located on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast within the tropical forest of Puerto Viejo, Limón. With its laid back attitude and Caribbean lifestyle, Puerto Viejo has it all: long walks on the pristine beaches, exotic flora and fauna in a wildlife refuge, snorkeling or diving among the many reefs in crystal clear waters, world-class surfing, mountain biking, kayaking and cultural visits to indigenous communities creating a natural and soothing ambiance. Cocles Beach, with its beautiful golden sands, is within walking distance from the resort. The serene atmosphere here is wonderfully relaxing. Smart, contemporary décor cleverly melds with the rustic ambience and intriguing lighting that changes color each day, adding a sophisticated warmth and sense of fun. - Day 4 Snorkeling Tour & Cahuita National Park Hike: today, you will be picked up to experience a snorkeling tour. You will visit the many unique marine and terrestrial ecosystems of Cahuita National Park; it features the only mature coral reef on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Its main attraction is a picture postcard reality of white sandy beaches, thousands of swaying palm trees, a calm sea of crystal-clear water and a live coral reef. In a glass fiber boat, plus Capitan and guide, you will be able to appreciate: 35 different coral species such as: The fire coral, Elkhorn and the Smooth brain coral; 123 different species of tropical fish such as: Queen Angelfish and Blue parrot fish; 44 species of crustaceans, 140 shellfish, 128 identified algae. Other species such as: sea urchins, sea cucumber, lobsters, sponges, hawksbill turtle and green turtle. After the snorkeling, you will be taken to a Cahuita Point. Right there, you can swim in the peaceful and warm water of the Caribbean Sea while you take a refreshment of tropical fruits. Then, you will enjoy the diversity of the forest on a hike in the Cahuita National Park where you will see many different species of flora and fauna, such as: Howler monkeys, White-faced monkey, Two-and Three-toed sloth, iguanas, spiders, Morpho butterflies, birds, snakes and much more. At the end you will enjoy a delicious Caribbean Lunch. Then middle afternoon, you will be taken back to your resort.
- Day 5 Puerto Viejo-Limon – Arenal: after breakfast a shuttle service will pick you to start a wonderful trip to reach Arenal area. At your arrival check in, walk through the property and get ready to relax and enjoy the volcano view.
Overnight at Arenal: the Arenal Springs Hotel offers the perfect combination between relaxation, comfort, and exuberant tropical scenery, as well as the best view of the Arenal Volcano from any vantage point on the premises. The hotel features colonial style rooms, with all the amenities that one can expect from a 60-room mountain retreat, (6 rooms are especially designed for the handicapped). The hotel’s restaurant also provides a magnificent view of the Arenal Volcano. - Day 6 Horseback Ride to La Fortuna Waterfall – Arenal Volcano Hike & Tabacon Hot Springs: breakfast is early and following it you will be driven to the town of La Fortuna, where you will horseback ride to a waterfall in the middle of the Rain Forest. This is a combination of horseback riding and hiking in this beautiful scenery. The horses are trained to take you all the way up to the waterfall trough green areas of pastures, forest and high hills. The views of San Carlos valleys and the Tropical Forest that surround the waterfall are spectacular. At the end of the road will let the horses and will walk dawn trough a trail all the way to the base of the water fall, which is 65 m high. Once there you can go for a swim. This fantastic area is very quiet and special to relax and enjoy a good time. On the way back you will come through a private farm of 400 hectares, where will be able to see Toucan, oriels, a large variety of flora and fauna we will also able to see one of the large trees in the area. After your dip and the horse ride back, you will be driven to your hotel. Then around 3:15 p.m., you will be picked up to enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a gentle hike along the base of this marvelous “Mountain of Fire”. The hike begins on the active side of the volcano, and takes you through the forest over recent lava flows and to the destroyed area now in the process of regeneration. This is a 1½ hour trail and gets as close as five hundred meters from the lava flow. After this exciting tour you will be dropped at Tabacon Resort and Hot Springs where you will experience one of the world’s most amazing offerings: hot springs which are fed by an underground river heated naturally by the Arenal Volcano to the perfect temperature of 101 degrees. Our previous guests refer to this as their personal visit to the “Fountain of Youth.” After a great buffet dinner, you will be driven back to your hotel for your wonderful night of rest.
- Day 7 Sky Tram & Trek – San Jose: after an early breakfast get ready to your last adventure as it will be time for the Sky Trek & Sky Tram! You will take a tram that allows you to have a different view for observing the canopy of the Rain Forest and after the 10-minute Sky Tram is completed it is time for a different kind of adrenalin rush. The Sky Trek! Then back to the hotel to check out. A shuttle transfer will take you back to San Jose for your last night in paradise.
Overnight in San Jose Downtown: at the Sleep Inn San Jose Downtown is conveniently located in the heart of the city, only 15 km from Juan Santamaria International Airport. It is a short distance away from casinos, night clubs, bars, restaurants, The National Theatre, Museum of Jade, Museum of Oro and parks that are part of the national heritage, among many other tourist attractions. - Day 8 Departure: today, you will be picked up and driven back to the airport at the appropriate time to catch your flight back home. It’s time to say goodbye to the new friends you have made in Costa Rica.
